篇一:2007CCTV英文演讲比赛演讲稿

In my elementary school years, I was once detained in the teacher’s office for some “serious moral misconduct”, sending my seatmate home everyday and being a very close friend.

Well, you may wonder, so what?

The only problem is that she is a girl. And to make things worse, she happened to be very charming by children’s standard that my teacher reprimanded me severely for being over-enthusiastic, and maintained that I should stay away from her and concentrate on truly serious matters.

With overdue respect to my teacher’s authority, I kept silent as if there were really something of an item going on between us. From then on, we were separated to sit in the diagonal corners of the classroom and were too embarrassed to speak to each other anymore.

Not only did I lose one of my best friends to my silence, but also my teacher’s trust to my cowardly obedient manner.

When I look back on my childhood experience, I was astonished by how the

“matured” adults misinterpreted the children’s pure friendship. As if, there’s no such thing as sincerity between the children through the eyes of grown-ups. While at the same time, I was more shocked by the children’s frightfulness in voicing the honest answers and stating the true circumstances. And the relationship between the teachers and the students become antagonized and precariously balanced.

Education, we say, is about communication. It’s a two-way street. The students should learn to be brave enough to speak up, at least once in a while.

I do wish I could come back to my childhood and make my voice heard, whispering to that little boy to speak up and telling the teacher that innocence really is something worth holding fast to.

Imagine a world in which Martin Luther King had failed to speak out against oppressive racism. How different our world would be like today? For centuries, people and countries have been fighting to make their voices heard. And today,

freedom of speech is a notion which is deeply ingrained upon people’s mind. It is so important that some nations have even enshrined it in their constitutions. But why, we might ask, do people consider the right to make their voices heard to be so important? And what is so important about speaking out anyway?

Well, it is the nature of man to enquire into things and to strive for self-improvement. Often situations arise when we are compelled to speak up for reform. However, if people are reluctant to express your opinions due to, for example, laziness, restrictions and fear, then much that needs reform will remain unchanged. Human progress depends upon the change and free flow of ideas whether in spoken or written form. But most of the time, people are reluctant to speak up. And for example, many times people just because of fear are unwilling to stand up and say the things they want. And built upon the sufferings of those who are brave enough to fight for it, freedom of speech is actually the things that we’ve always fighted. I should say that, conclude my speech by reminding all of you that, we should use our voices and to speak out with passion and conviction, for that is right and our right. Because I have to remind you that we should also use our ears to listen, with respect and understanding, for that is our duty.

“Diane, can you speak a little louder, please?” That’s what my teacher said to me on the first day of school. I almost burst into tears as so many students turned to watch me sitting down in the corner that belonged to me. After school, my teacher found me, smiling, she said: “You don’t have to be afraid of anyone. People just want to know about you so the next time just let them hear what you have to say. After so many years, I am still a shy person as I was fifteen years ago but the difference is I am not any more afraid of letting people know about me, hear about my ideas.

People, as we are, are never isolated individuals. We all live on the planet where lives all the other people as well. So keeping oneself excluded would never work, or else we would always be trapped in that little corner of ours. We have to step into the world as we are in fact part of it.

I’ve always remembered what Simba said to her daughter: we are one. So what’s to be afraid of? Since human beings are virtually linked souls. Just tell others what we really think, how we really feel. Even if we do have the wrong idea, we will have the chance to correct our mistakes. And if we don’t, it’s all right.

But if we never spoke our mind, we will never know what we are missing out in this world. We will never know what we can actually make of ourselves. And we will never know what is needed to live a life with other people. When there is giving, there is receiving. That’s how the communication circle works. We are all very blessed to have so many people hear our voice. So don’t refuse the blessing for life is based on it. Just remember when the world knows more about us, we know more about the world. So today, can you hear my voice?"

What am I doing now? I’m using speech to communicate with you. I’m making my voice heard. Yesterday I told my parents I was nervous to death to come to this competition today. I couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t eat. I constantly have headaches and diarrhea. Honestly, I haven’t been so out of place and physically sick in my entire life. Instead of saying kind words to calm me down, he said, “Do you know that

companies and industries has spent thousands of dollars just to let their advertisement show on the TV screen for less than ten seconds and you have got yourself an opportunity to make your voice heard in front of millions. How unique is this

chance?” Suddenly I realized I have to seize this precious opportunity to make myself, my voice heard. People throughout the world, people throughout history have used various ways to communicate, and more importantly to make their voices heard. William Shakespeare use his sonnets to express emotions and communicate with millions in centuries. Director Zhang Yimou use movies to express his thoughts and ideas with audiences around the world. And the representatives of the Six Party Talks use their wisdom to negotiate. They have made their voice heard. Today is my turn. I’m going to seize this opportunity and I have realized from them to myself, making your voice heard is truly a universal pursuit to all mankind. I was kicking and

screaming to have to go on this stage. Now I’m reluctant to leave this stage. Making yourself, your voice heard is truly and very important thing for every one of us.

Speech of Mu Jiawei, Northwest Normal University

Unity and Diversity -- Common Progress in Different Regions

In recent years, the development of the Chinese economy has been incredibly fast, some might even call it miraculous. But behind the miracles lies a problem: the development is unbalanced in different regions.

Under the strategy of the Chinese government, China has three major economic regions: the east, the middle and the west. With its advantageous position, the east is the fastest developing area, leaving the west far behind, and the middle somewhere in between. For instance, the GDP per capita in the east amounts to US$2000, while that of the west is only 40% of the east.

Furthermore, the gap between the urban and the rural, according to the State Statistical Bureau, has widened to more than 10 years. There are people in the big cities with large houses, expensive cars, other luxuries and better opportunities. However, there are people in the countryside, living on meager food, without the security of health, education, and so on.

This is the diversity of the Chinese economy. For the unity of the full national economic development, governments of all levels have decided on corresponding strategies, for example, the greater development of the western region, the continuing rise of the central China, and the faster development of the east. Specifically, within the west, provinces alike have established programs of development, with financial and technological aid of the central government, making full use of the western natural resources. Such strategies have turned out to be remarkably successful.

It reminds me of the world. There are wealthy countries in North America and Europe; there are poor ones in Asia and Africa. The aid from the rich world is far from enough to remove poverty in the developing countries. Therefore, with the help of funds, technology, and management from wealthy countries, these developing countries now have the opportunity to establish their own right strategies of development, taking full advantage of their natural and human resources.

If their strategies succeed, in the years to come, I hope to see such a world: everyone, white or black, brown or yellow, can stand side by side, equal, happy, and harmonious. There is diversity; there is unity.

Speech of Li Mengxia, Harbin Engineering University

Unity and Diversity -- Diversity Talks

A couple of days ago, I saw the newly eolled freshmen in the military training under the glowing sun. They wear the same, move the same, eat the same, and sing together, they do everything under one same command without an exception. I could see sweet smiles on their faces though the heat of summer was melting them. Why? Because this is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for

them to feel no different from others. No matter where you are from, rich or poor, boy or girl, you are part of this battalion; you are comparatively insignificant but absolutely irreplaceable.

This is a force. It’s unity.

We are the world because of unity. It enables the international co-operational manufacture by setting up unified standards for everything. A nail produced in China can be perfectly used in any corner of the world.

Therefore, it is unity that leads world into a perfect harmony!

However, don’t you think it’s a little bit boring with unity ruling the world only? What would you do if someone orders you to do whatever he does without allowing you to do what you really want? Apparently, you’ll be going nuts, because you are not leading a life of your own. So, to us, diversity talks!

Before I went to college, my dad asked me: son, did you think of being outstanding? If you want to be outstanding, you have to stand out, stand out of normal routine which other people consider the only way to success.

But dad’s words went in one ear and out the other! I had no idea whether dad was right or wrong until the day I found I was no longer myself. I put myself in a jar full of people. I work when they work, I panic when they panic, and I waste time when they waste time. This is no laughing matter but a horrible disaster. Afterwards, I kept telling myself: I am a student, and I do what a student should do. This is our unity. But does this mean we have to sacrifice our diversity to save the orderly image of unity? Not exactly! Unity stops us getting into chaos while diversity makes life colorful.

From then on, my long-covered specialty was evoked and set me on a special track to my dreams.

I got back what I had lost. It’s a great feeling that you realize you still have the ability to surprise yourself: I found a part-time job as an oral-English teacher in a private school. I love English and work joyfully though my major has nothing to do with English at all. I stood out and made a difference. I found “I am what I am, and I am happy to be me.”

Ladies and gentlemen, one color is dull, but the combination of 7 colors is rainbow. Remember that you are no different, and this is how you get confident; engrave it in your heart that you are unique, and this is how you get successful! Thank you!
