前元音：

双唇向两边张开，舌尖抵下齿，舌前部向硬腭抬得尽量高。

双唇向两边张开，牙床开得比[i:]宽；舌尖抵下齿，舌前部向硬腭抬起，舌位比[i:]低。
[e] net 、hen 、head
双唇向两边张开，牙床开得比[i]宽，使上下齿之间有一个食指的间隔；舌尖抵下齿，舌前部抬起，舌位比[i]低。
[?] bad 、fat 、Jack
双唇向两边张开，牙床开得比[e]宽，使上下齿之间有一个食指和一个中指的间隔；舌尖抵下齿，舌前部抬起，舌位比[e]低。
中元音：
[?:] bird 、dirty、 early
舌中部前伸并稍稍向上抬起，双唇自然张开成扁平形，牙床比[?]音小，近乎半和。但注意该音并不是由[?]音延长而成。
[?] about、 above 、afraid
舌中部自然向上抬起，舌位比[?:]低；双唇自然张开成扁平形，牙床半开。注意不要将双唇收圆，此音在词首或词中时发得较模糊，在词尾时应当适当延长而且此音永不重读。
后元音：

舌身后缩，舌后部向软腭抬起；双唇收圆，略向前突出。
[u:] goose、 noodle、 ruler
舌身后缩，舌后部向软腭抬起；舌位比[u]高，双唇向前突出。注意发音时双唇比发[u]音要收得更圆，更向前突出。

舌中部稍稍向上抬起，舌尖轻抵下齿，舌位比低；双唇向两边平伸成扁平形，
牙床接近全开。

舌尖处于下齿以下部分，舌身平放后缩；口张大，牙床全开。注意不要将该音与双元音[ai]音中的
[a]混淆，发该音时牙床全开，舌尖不抵下齿，舌位很低，但后舌稍稍隆起。

舌身降低并后缩，舌后位抬起；双唇收圆，牙床全开。学习这个音时可以先[a:]发音，在其基础上将双唇收圆就会得到它，双唇收圆后会感到舌向后收缩，后舌抬起，要注意将牙床尽量开得大一些。
[?:]autumn 、horse、 ward
舌身降低并后缩，舌后部用力抬起，舌位比[?]高；双唇向前突出，比发[?]音收得更圆更小。牙床张开发[?]音时的三分之二左右。
合口双元音：
[ei] cake、 game、 rain
口形由[e]向[i]滑动，下颚向上合拢，舌位随之太高。注意发此音时不要将[e]的牙床开得很大。

舌尖抵住下齿，从[a]的部位向[i]滑动，口形从开到合，但不到的[i]舌位就停止了。注意前面的
[a]音发得较清楚、较长。后面的[i]音发得较模糊、较短，相当于[e]音。

从[?]向[i]滑动，口形从大到小，但不到[i]就停止了。注意此音的舌位在[?]和[?：]之间。

舌尖稍触下齿，由[ ]向[u]滑动，口形从开到合。注意发音时牙床半开，后舌稍稍太高，双唇渐渐收圆。
[au] cow 、now 、shout
口形由[?]向[u]滑动，双唇渐渐收圆，舌后部稍微抬起，口形从开到合，但不到[u]的位置就停止了。注意发此音中的[?]时，牙床要开大，双唇向两边略微伸张。
